SV: {UAH} Ocen, WBK// Kenyan MP shot dead in Nairobi
Ocen & co.,
I find it lousy that the late Hon was going to his family meeting
so armed.O.K., he had licens for it but could that be sign enough that
he was aware some thing was hatching after his butt?

Mr Pojim/WBK
I understand the Nairobi mayor was beaten up by hired thugs this
morning. I think there is an on-going strike by market vendors. Like
Jenniffer Musisi, Dr Kidero is trying to move these vendors on,
claiming they are an eyesore, but without providing them with an
alternative. In all cities of third world countries, there is a whole
underclass that survives on illegal vending, and governments have to
think of more creative ways of combatting the problem. The Philippines
tried what no other government in the low income countries have
attempted, whic is to allocate $10 billion to build low cost housing
30-50 miles outside of Manila City and allocated them free of charge
to the urban city homeless families who live in giant squatters? Would
you belive that this radical policy actually failed? The government
had failed to realise that people live in slums, not because they
prefer to do so, but because of employment opportunities it offers.
The government got so alarmed that it is the middle class families who
have been bribing the squatter families to move into these low cost
houses. As Manila city is very expensive, the city workers would
rather move to live 50 miles out and then drive to work. So it has
become a vicious circle, a family is moved out of the slums into a
modern, electrified low cost house with piped water, in less than a
mont, they have moved back to another Manila slum which opens up as
soon as one is closed, and a city working family has moved in, having
bribed the squatter family up to $5,000. Dr Kidero should learn a
lesson from this experience of Manila City. Those market vendors will
simply change base, as soon as their current base is knocked down. He
therefore has to find alternatives for these vendors, otherwise he may
come off even worse off the next he rubs shoulders with these irate
citizens.
Dr Kidero wants to be President of Kenya, and I dont think incidents
like this are good on his CV.
