{UAH} DUAL CITIZENSHIP PREVENTS DR.KIYINGI FROM STANDING FOR PRESIDENCY

''His political ambitions aside, the law in its current shape bars Kiyingi from running for president because he holds dual citizenship (Uganda and Australia). According to section 19d (1) of the Uganda Citizenship and Immigration Control (Amendment) Act of 2009, a person who holds citizenship of another country in addition to the citizenship of Uganda is not qualified to hold any of the offices of state, which include: president, vice president, prime minister, cabinet minister or head any security organisation.The only way Kiyingi can circumvent this provision, is to renounce his Australian citizenship. It is a process that could take up to two months, according to the Australia-citizenship test.com, a website that gives advice to those seeking to apply for or revoke Australian citizenship.''
