fwd.ed, Members of Parl. - U.G. or U@H parliamentarians, say something on behalf of your pipo (although it's not compulsory). It's akin to betrayal of the pipo, coming in here and just sitting quietly

- the way this kenyan M.P. Tongi Richard does:

A politician has questioned Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i's ability to represent the people saying he has never "uttered a word" in Parliament.

Zaheer Jhanda claimed that Tong'i is yet to address the House, 14 months after being elected, and that he has abdicated his responsibilities.

Jhanda regretted supporting the MP, adding that he has not engaged in any meaningful development projects.

"I withdrew from the race and rallied behind Tong'i in the hope that as a youthful leader he had the energy to deliver development, but he has disappointed me by becoming dormant in Parliament," he said.

Jhanda asked Tong'i to "rise to the occasion or face the wrath of the constituents come 2017".

He was speaking during a burial at Kabosi in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii county on Sunday.

Jhanda vied for the MP seat during the March 2013 general election but lost to Chris Bichage.

Bichage's election was however nullified by the High Court over irregularities at three polling stations.

Tong'i defeated Bichage in a by-election held in December 2013.

End - Ke. news update.
