I start by apologizing for the slow pace we are moving on from this side, it is so hectic this winter and getting a time to sit on a computer becomes problematic.  The series is matching forward and what we will do is to pick up its speed whenever we can. Ugandans we have a responsibility to discuss Acholi violence. And this brings a new issue that was raised in the study I posted last Friday in series 141. I stated that I was going to remain in that study for a while for there were some very bothersome issues the study raised on Acholi that I needed to raise.

 

One of the Acholi violence act that deeply affected the authors of that study, is Acholi men forcing women into sex immediately after having a baby. And again in my trying yet very hard, to very limit the cruelty of Acholi being posted, I will narrate this one very briefly. A woman in Pabo camp had a baby, two days after the birth, her husband got honny and instructed her to drop the pants. He wanted to screw a woman that had just dropped a baby two days before. Complaints were started, she ran away from the thug, and took refugee with her in-laws. A reconciliation sitting was set up to find out why these two cannot get back together.  When a reconciliation meeting was convened, an elder said, 'Hey anyaka, lim pud ki tero atera doo. Wek wodwa ocam dek .  And this is a statement from an elder that is supposed to protect every one including women. If you need a translation of the very pathetic statement the Acholi elder made, consult Ssalongo Ssenoga, he is  very knowledgeable in the language. I am going to ask this question just out of ignorance, how long does it take for an Acholi to screw a woman after she gets a baby? How many Acholi women are suffering under this kind of violence?

 

Ugandans we need to discuss Acholi violence candidly.
