{UAH} LC III LEADERS ENDORSE MUNICIPALITIES FOR WAKISO DISTRICT
Fellow country men, last Friday 6th February LC III leaders in Wakiso District convened a meeting at Kyengera and supported my campaign for turning all parliamentary constituencies in Wakiso District into municipalities. They were guided by our Deputy Permanent Representative to UN, Ambassador Kintu Nyago. They resolved to write to Local Government Minister and copy to President and Speaker of Parliament, among others. This was in addition to what NRM leaders in Wakiso District led by former Entebbe Mayor Steven Kabuye who asked for the same before the President and he promised to ensure that it is done. Wakiso District Council under LC V Chairperson Matiya Lwanga Bwanika also resolved that Wakiso District be turned into a city and it was forwarded to Local Government Minister. Kyaddondo North MP Kasule Ssebunnya also moved for Kyaddondo to become a district and this was supported by cabinet, tabled in parliament and is under scrutiny by the committee on public service and local government.
The President while at Namayingo, also promised that densely populated districts (like Wakiso) should have more MPs (and Councillors). Let's all pull together.
