Mugabe's EU travel ban lifted in light of new African Union post

The European Union lifted a travel ban to allow Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe to go on official visits. "This ban will be lifted when he is travelling under his African Union chairmanship capacity," said Catherine Ray who is the European Commission (EU) spokeswoman.
Last year, President Mugabe pulled out of the EU-Africa summit after Brussels did not grant his wife a travel visa. The spokeswoman did not have an answer about Dr. Grace Mugabe also being able to travel, in light of his new appointment.
