Folks;

Based currently and purely on unsubstantiated allegations and appearance of impropriety, Ababu Namwamba is about to be ejected as chairman of the influential Public Accounts Committee of Kenya's parliament.

Mr. Namwamba is an erudite lawyer and a young political hustler. His meteoric rise to the chairmanship of this Committee is a testament to his ability to wheel-and-deal, a necessary attribute in political leadership.

I think Namwamba's undoing here, and I have raised this concern before, is his arrogance. He makes statements that do not value his counterparts as equals; he often "tells" others how things ought to be done, rather than engage them and seek their buy-ins. He's also famously impatient.

Now, as to whether he pocked any bribes to influence the Committee reports, I have no idea. But his days as PAC boss is most likely over.
