Zimbabwean polygamous marriage gets bloody over sex
February 4, 2015 — A Zimbabwean woman in a polygamous marriage allegedly axed and gravely injured her husband's junior wife before committing suicide. The incident was reportedly due to a conflict about the sex roster
35 year-old Alice Makohomero was reportedly upset about the junior wife enjoying more 'bedroom rights' than her. She then confronted her.
The heavily-pregnant junior wife, Teriza, justified the attention by referring to her pregnancy and her younger body.
According to MyZimbabwe, Makohomero then allegedly struck her counterpart with an axe following an altercation with her husband.
A relative narrated to journalists that Makohomero fled soon thereafter.
"A search party was arranged to look for Makohomero. She was found hanging from a tree, just a few metres from her homestead. She was buried on Saturday in the same village after postmortem was waived," he added.
Teriza was rushed to Silveira Mission Hospital where she was referred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in Harare. Her condition is said to be critical.
