Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah  has declared null and void a letter signed by Clerk to Parliament to News Editors directing them to replace parliamentary correspondents who had done so for five years and above.

The Deputy Speaker has said, that the letter had no backing of any minutes of parliamentary commission and should be seen as a mere piece of paper.

The journalists had given an ultimatum of only Monday and if the letter was not withdrawn they were taking court action.

They had also vowed to black out parliamentary commission.

Sources close to Speaker Rebecca Kadaga , in US for an official visit, also distanced her from the letter.

The letter may have been for diversion of journalists as ministers and MPs and other state functionaries implicated in corruption scandals were exonerated on Wednesday evening.
