1.1907 Historic picture of Uganda Railways: former British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill and Former US President Theodore Roosevelt at the front row seated above, on the Uganda Railways, while travelling to Uganda in 1907. Uganda Railways collapsed down because of grand corruption, on the watch of the NRA/M Government, which it found running and well-maintained in 1986.
Don't know much about other areas, but in Kampala and Mukono (Buganda), there is sufficient credible evidence to prove that the UR railway facilities were located and established by the British Government on private lands, with consent of the land owners. Before departure of British Administrators in 1962, the then Governor Sir Walter Coutts, handed back all private lands, which it held in trust for the people of Buganda.
Those lands or properties were arbitrary deprived of the true landowners in 1966, fraudulently transferred and wrongly entered in the land registry as "public lands" under the repealed Article 108 of the 1967 Constitution, without payment of any compensation to the land owners, prior to the taking of possession or acquisition of private property for public use. In 1967, several private estate were wrongly entered in the land registry as "public lands" and fraudulently placed under the custody of the Uganda Land Commission, created by the repealed Article 108 of the 1967 Constitution, which the late Binaisa Lukongwa personally wrote and authored, before it was imposed on the people by the gun
