She only graduated in January with a bachelor's degree in Economics from Makerere University and had just got a job, with a city advertising firm called Ad Concepts. But Becky Nampijja Kakooza's life, was cut short this morning in an accident involving a bodaboda.
According to Sharon Nakitto, the deceased's best friend, Nampijja, 24, was on her way to work early Monday morning when a taxi knocked the bodaboda, on which she was riding.
"They were negotiating traffic jam when the taxi knocked them, there were no visible injuries on her body, so she was rushed to Mulago Hospital where she breathed her last," said Nakitto.
Friends and relatives have described the late as a jolly, cool, down-to-earth, bright, smart girl who always wore a smile on her face.
"My little Sister Becky you have gone so soon. I was with you just yesterday putting our brother to rest and now less than a day later you are gone. Life is too short. We loved you but God loved you more," said Suzan Nakawuki, East African Legislative Assembly MP.
"My dear sister I was just with you on Saturday swimming I cannot believe that you are gone forever I clapped for you many time not knowing I was saying bye to you," said Penny Melody, a sister.
Watoto Child care ministries where the late grew up from sent their condolences.
"Today, we mourn the loss of our daughter, Rebecca Nampijja who was starting her first job this week. Our deepest condolences to all who loved her dearly," said Patriacia Ochol, the Watoto public relations officer.
There shall be a vigil tonight in Buloba at her parents' home and shall be buried in the same place tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service shall be held in Bbira village, a Watoto home where her mother works as a foster mum.
