Push-ups for Uganda donations triple over first year

(Lander, Wyo.) – Lander's schools efforts last Friday to do Push-ups and raise funds for clean water projects in Uganda surpassed the first year's donations by more than three times.

In 2014, the effort was initiated by Teacher Jamie Franzen and the 3rd Grade Student Council. It was limited to Gannett Peak Elementary School and $1,100 was donated to RainCatcher for people in Uganda. This year, students at Baldwin Creek Elementary and Lander Valley High participated. The final total, as announced today by Franzen, was $3,497.18.

"Words cannot express how grateful we are for all of you," Franzen said. "Because of your kindness and generosity, our friends in Africa will be able to drink clean, safe water. Your donations helped Gannett Peak Elementary to soar past our $1,000.00 goal."

Check out the students in action here.

Here's the breakdown:

Gannett Peak Elementary's Website – $630.00

Connor Higginbotham's Website – $1,414.00

Baldwin Creek Elementary – $249.13

Lander Valley High School – $103.47

Cash/Check Donations – $1,100.58
