Kenya: Council of Governors Chair Isaac Ruto has declared he will not vote for Jubilee in 2017 if the performance of the government in regards to devolution is anything to go by.

Ruto stated that whatever happened to Kajiado two days ago is a protest vote against President Uhuru Kenyatta's JubileeAlliance Party (JAP) and his government for lack of commitment to devolution.

He warned the top Jubilee leaders to stop chest thumping about their win in the last general elections yet there is nothing they can show to the people who voted for them.

"The government has been joking with matters devolution, and the people of Kajiado have clearly demonstrated that they are not happy with the government, by voting in an ODM candidate," said Ruto.

Ruto congratulated the electorate of Kajiado central for voting in an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate terming it a lesson to the Jubilee government who are not keen on devolution.

The CoG chair who has been accused by his colleagues on many occasions of criticising the Jubilee government that sponsored him to his current position, mocked the ruling coalition.

"Sijui kama niliwahi kuwa kwa hii Jubilee na sijui hata kama bado niko kwa hiyo serikali ya hao watu (I dont know if I was ever in Jubilee government and am not even sure if I belong there even now)," said Ruto.

He spoke amidst cheers from Siaya residents at Lwak Mixed Primary School, during the launch of national deworming programmes in the region on Wednesday.

Ruto said it was wrong for a particular crop of people to keep on looking down upon other people and hurling abuses instead of offering service delivery to them.

"They keep on saying they will rule for over 20 years, who told them that they are still carrying the votes they got in a basket," said Ruto.

Referring to the Kajiado win where  the newly elected MP Elijah Memusi of ODM floored his closest opponent for JAP Patrick Tutui by more than 500 votes, Ruto stated that the electorate were enlightened enough to elect a person because of the ideals he stands for.

He urged Kenyans to adopt the same and desist from being imposed on leaders but vote for policies and what an individual stands for.
