Police in Kampala are holding a 35 year old Patrick Kato believed to have stolen over 20 vehicles.
There was a scuffle this afternoon at the Central Police Station as officers paraded Patrick Kato, who was arrested in Wobulenzi in Luweero on Thursday last week.
Kato who also calls himself John Senyonjo, at one point bragged that he's been working with top shots in police and that ultimately he would walk out free.
One of his victims Bashir Bunono a car dealer at Pine car dealers in Nakasero stormed the police station together with other fellow car dealers, who had fallen victim of his tricks.
According to Patrick Onyango the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, the suspect has a number of cases around Kampala metropolitan all involving car theft.
He says Kato, a resident of Ntinda would approach car dealers and take away their cars in false test-drive pretense and he would never come back.
"He would approach a car dealer though his group members and then call his girlfriend to take the car on a test drive and you would never see it again," said Onyango.
Bashir Bunono told police that Kato sold him a Toyota premier UAT 389W at Shs 5.9Million in May 2014, only to be arrested later by the genuine owners of the car.
Patrick Kato faces theft charges in case Number CRB 454/2015 of Kampala central police station.
