{UAH} THE PRINCIPLE AT WORK!

Forum;

Most of you, who have been reading my posts may by now, be familiar with the Acholi principle of  "arwot ki oda". The principle, loosely translated means, "one is a king in my own home". Those who practice absolutism may not understand why Acholi people have always sought freedom from oppression by one. But allas! The original federation, as it was practiced for centuries, is coming back to life. Rwot Achana may be the paramount chief, but he will not impose against other chiefs.
Acholi must  join the fedby20/20 campaign so that the principle of arwot ki oda is spread, country wide, because federalsim is inevitable but, it must not be allowed through the back door  .

Gulu. The rising number of self-styled clan chiefs in Acholi sub-region are becoming a threat to the unity of the chiefdom, Acholi Chiefdom prime minister Okin Ojara has said.
Speaking at a media briefing at the chiefdom headquarters in Gulu Town on Wednesday, Mr Ojara expressed concern over the growing number of sub-clans whose leaders are crowning themselves chiefs.
"Elders should advise locals on the dangers of having many chiefs. We have witnessed a lot of conflicts overtime as a result of the increasing numbers of chiefs," he noted.

Mr Ojara said almost all the clans in the sub-region want to have chiefs, which has resulted in divisions among residents. He warned that if the practice is not stopped, more resources will be spent on resolving conflicts than engaging in developmental activities.

Initially, there were only 24 recognised clan chiefs but Mr Ojara estimated the number to have risen to 55.
He described the additional clan chiefs as masqueraders who have no blessing of the Acholi Chiefdom head.
He named the most affected areas as Atiak, Padibe, Palabek, Lamogi and Agoro villages, where individuals are breaking away from the recognised clan chiefs and forming new ones.
The Alokolum Clan chief said government financially supporting the chiefs is the main source of conflict.

Background
There are more than 800 clans in Acholi and Rwot David Onen Achana II, is the Paramount Chief.
