{UAH} RESPONSE to SSENYONGA: Effects of my Law Suit 2

Mr Ssenyonga,

The law suit that I filed does NOT address the issue of HOW the association will determine eligible voters/members.  As such, the judge will not ask me about it. UNAA, like any other Massachusetts association, is free to determine who should be a member and how verification will be handled.  

Both the old and the new constitution specifically mention that UNAA is an Association of Ugandans in the diaspora. Neither bylaws explained HOW the association would handle verification.  Therefore, the EC was tasked with coming up with guidelines. In 2013, the EC came up with guidelines on verification.  e.g they asked for IDs.  For new residents, they asked for passports and evidence that one had been here for at least a year.

OK i now get it. just an advise, you better be ready to provide a concret answer to the judge with regards to the law suit, otherwise referring him/her to the EC guideline might anoye him/her.

I'd like to defer that question to the Election Commission guidelines. I understand that someone from Dallas showed up to vote in 2013 but he was turned away because he showed a Rwandese passport.  I'm not sure we have a big problem of non-ugandans coming to vote.  I think the bigger threat is Ugandans that live Uganda...especially Uganda government officials.
