{UAH} Sickle Cell Screening Kit Campaign
Personal Story
Our 13 year old daughter Carol Marriam Mulumba was diagnosed of Sickle Cell disease at the age of 3 days. At age 7, she beat the odds against sickle cell anemia with a bone marrow and cord blood transplant from her HERO younger brother.
Non-Profit Organization
My family decided to start a nonprofit organization called Uganda-American Sickle Cell Rescue Fund (UASCRF) www.uganda-americansickle.org to increase awareness of sickle cell disease. We have held numerous educational workshops, wrote brochures, presentations in efforts to increase awareness. We have also held 2 successful sickle cell conferences in Uganda with the help of our partners. The 3rd sickle cell conference one will be held on June 19th 2015 at Hotel Africana, Kampala, Uganda, East Africa.
Our goal this year & how you can help
The campaign this year (June 2015) is to hold a sensitization drive on sickle cell diagnosis by performing sickle cell screening. We have a target of about 20,000 people. Please join me to raise funds for 20,000 sickle cell screening kits worthy $2.00 each. Any amount will be helpful to reach our goal!!!!! Thank you very much.
