{UAH} So many things to learn from the very early death of AK47
So many things to learn from the very early death of AK47 (25 years is just one half of Uganda's Life Expectancy at Birth). The most critical lesson is the rampant level of mental ill-health in suburban Kampala - the demon that drove a young man like this to the brink of stress. Stress arising from the struggle to succeed in an industry where many pretenders strive to enter but few hit the celeb mark. And the demon drove him to drugs. (And it was not his fault - in the book 'Sick Societies', Stuckler and Siegel argue that a person's risk for non-communicable diseases is rooted in their environment, and the environment slowly programs their risk in a way that they can hardly control). the problem of drugs is a growing public health problem because of weak laws. Look at all reports of musicians growing marijuana in their residences, shisha smoking in public places and ,the mother of all evils, international drug dealers who find it safer to transit through Uganda because of small fines. There are even reports of bar owners who use beautiful barmaids to lure and hook unsuspecting patrons onto drugs. The environment certainly needs to be made unfavorable to drug use and sale!
