Uganda's "Ghetto Kids" Become a Viral Sensation

      The video has been viewed over 2 million times, and you really can't help but move your feet. Eddy Kenzo's "Sitya Loss" (I'm Not Afraid of Losing) single has brought recognition to this young group of Ugandan dancers. Their style and pizzazz is unmistakable.

     Under the direction and choreography of their math teacher, the group — self-christened as the "Ghetto Kids"— have utilized the platform of dancing to better their living situations for themselves and their families. What was once just a fun activity has transformed into a means of income and possibility. They work tirelessly, choreographing and rehearsing for competitions and exhibitions. Some of them aim for fame, while others hope to create a better life and just move out of the slums. In the depths of poverty, these resilient kids do not despair. Far from it. 

    Eddy Kenzo, the song's artist, began a Facebook petition to get the kids recognition for their performance. He reached out to Ellen DeGeneres:

    "Over the last couple of months, Uganda has been publicised in the foreign press because of their Anti-Gay Bill. But watching these kids dance clearly brings out another side of Ugandans being very happy, talented people. Ellen, we ask you to host these talented kids on your show so that Americans can get a chance to see how WE the Africans groove."
