{UAH} Village house shocks mourners

Gwokto

What  bunch of lies! First and foremost, Bombo is only 3 minutes away from Kampala. How can it be near West Nile or for that matter Arua. Fabrications after fabrications however good a writer and story teller one is makes no sense. A Canadian NGO right here in Toronto recently fled your own village due to lack of where to shit. Are you proud of that? An individual can obviously build a home in his village as by African standard, but the government has responsibility to put infrastructure such as roads in place. What is the point of building a mansion when there are no roads to access it. And going back on Iddi Amin, the government made it an issue to encourage officers to build homes, that is why men like Ali Fadul built homes in East, Garandi in Mpigi, Alli Towilli in Hoima on and on the list goes that you looted. That is why Nassur Abdallah built the two mansions in Kampala that you again looted. Gwokto what homes were built by Oyite Ojoke, Paul Muwanga, John Ogole, Chogwok in Uganda?

Look, national development eliminates individualized village development. How many Canadians who live in major cities such as Toronto tell you they are going to their village this or that weekend? They have no villages, but cottages which they choose to purchase in any parts of the country. Rural Canada now belong to farmers which also look 85% urban because everything to access in urban centers is not too far away from these farms. They do not shit in the bush and do not wipe their butt with acacia leaves, but the same toilet papers you have in the heart of Toronto. You are laughing about the army officer whom you are obviously lying about, but if true he had the means to return his body home when the ogole thug is in London. In your case, like we do all the time, when hit the bucket, we are going to ask for pennies from well-wishers in Canada to fly your casket home. Life most you have no life Insurance and yet you expect to be buried home, a home with no toilets.

What a damn shame sir.

Ori Oda,

Didnt I make some serious post elsewhere here in UAH earlier about ancestral homes? They matter a lot more than the city mansions. In Amin's 70s a very high-ranking Army officer kicked the bucket unceremoniously. It was well known all over the army that this officer had never ever taken leave in any other place other than hanging around in Kampala. Story after his death revealed that even his closest friends mocked him for not going to the village each time his holidays were announced in the twice daily army "Part One" which circulated events of the twice a day on a daily basis to the military around the country.

When dude died his family was - literally - forced to take his body home and the force was accompanied by a helicopter airlift of his body and immediate family. Pilots were given a place name in West Nile purported to be his ancestral home. Mistake the pilots did was hurriedly taking off with the conviction they will confirm the village as they went closer - in general direction - to the village area.

Just when they believed they were over the native's village they were surprised to see or find no sign of a visible settlement or hut as they had expected that being a top dude in the army his village house would serve as the unavoidable landmark to steer the chopper to his home.

Waaaapi.....!

Determined to land the plane at the officer's home the pilots forgot they were running out of fuel when they fixated on spotting some Mabati roofed house to no avail. Plane came down safely in the immediate vicinity but way off and far in a forest clearing from which the pilots couldn't tell East from West or North from South. Fearing the fast decomposing body will cause more harm they dug a makeshift grave and dumped the officer's body in it then took off for the army base in Bombo near Arua where they were to wait for fuel., The funeral entourage or family was also left in the forest and told they could hit the grass for home and tell the rest where the man was rested.

The pilot and crew didnt keep their mouths shut when they eventually returned to Kampala. They were frank at telling comrades they couldnt find the officer's house and neither his native home village and acknowledged they buried him only "Somewhere" in West Nile saying they were not even sure if they hadnt crossed into Zaire. Just when all else thought they were into big trouble, the story made its way into - I believe, Simba - the military's monthly magazine in the Humour section. I took one to my school after holidays and it became a hot underground reading. Underground bcos students from West Nile were not supposed to know about its existence as it was a very embarrassing story that could backfire up my ass.

Village house shocks mourners

Meanwhile mourners were thrown aback by the state of the Mayanjas' ancestral home. For a family that has produced four musicians who earn millions, mourners said, it was strange that the small village house in which Mzee Gerald Mayanja grew up was still the only establishment there.

The mcee of the day further stunned mourner when he cautioned them not to use the small latrine lest they 'have another funeral'.

"Please do not use that latrine, I beg you. We do not want to have another funeral here," he pleaded.
