{UAH} DISEASES RARELY KILL PEOPLE.LEADERS AND DOCTORS KILL PEOPLE!

Friends,

The death of the Supreme mufti, Zubair Kayongo, has shocked many but not me. Some newspaper reports show that he died of kidney failure(KF) which is not rapidly fatal. Sure, the biggie reason for KF is alcohol abuse but the honourable sheik didnt drink and it's not the only reason. There are others. So, probably something may have been done to save him if our health system was working despite his old age.I'd be willing to put money on the barrel that the most of the deaths in Uganda could be avoided. It seems to me that even body organs don't work under NRM regime.

Obviously, choice in lifestyle does influence overall health and can contribute to or directly cause many of the ailments people are dying of, but the government has done little to support people's health.Byakwefako nga ekimela ekiikulide ku kubo(road side). I think a lot of Ugandans are still alive today because of obviously God's powers, local herbs and adaptation to the environment.

One theory why I think president Museveni does not care much about the health of the poor(majority) is that because they contribute less to the country. Species analyze the cost/benefit in providing for the less capable among them based on what such individuals may contribute or will contribute to the population's or leader's survival in the future.

In addition, some of our doctors aren't meant to be doctors at all--- as a lot of people I know have been misdiagnosed. For instance, a friend/relative of mine was last year told by Uganda docs that he had cancer till when he traveled to India and the diagnosis was changed to TB. Can you imagine the stress he was put through? Would he ever trust Ugandan docs again?

There are numerous clinics around the country treating chronic ailments regularly but who the hell supervises what these quack docs are doing there? For all I know, they may even be selling 'chapatis' and expired drugs there but nobody cares!

I know most of the NRM chaps are a bit edgy at the moment and perhaps consider my posts to be attacks, but I'm really just trying to get an idea of how health care works in Uganda if you can't afford to go abroad or to the famous 'wait-for- you-turn- to -die- AgaKhan hospital in Nairobi.

R.I.P Brother Zubair Kayongo! Truly, to Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.[Noble Quran 2:156]
