{UAH} Dr. Kipengi, Kayondo - Dry spell triggered Dry Cough

Help explain this type of cough.

Since February there is a disease in air that triggers dry coughs - this type of cough does not go away with *conventional* cough syrups.

It is treated with antibiotic drugs. The cough makes the patient to cough all night/day and it might trigger fevers. One feels dry throats completely dry on coughing and it pains whenever one coughs as if choking on a corrosive substance.

It can last for months on if not properly treated. However, I am wondering the continued use of anti biotic since the cough appears to becoming frequent as I have observed that in some it take long to go away.

My doctor says, this might be related and also attributed to heavy air pollution in Kampala into which the bacteria that causes it survives. In fact this might be true since this cough appears particularly during dry spells and Mujjabi has also observed.

My doctor first treated this cough as normal cough when I had just got it on landing here a few years ago – the climate was dry and hot. After one week he changed to anti biotic drugs which he also warned me about.

what is the is all about and effects on the elderly and children?
