Amuru women strip before ministers in protest over land

The women were protesting a decision by the Ministry of Lands to demarcate the border of the two districts, which they feared was a prelude to mass evictions.

Women in Apaa village, which lies on the Amuru-Adjumani district border, have stripped and demonstrated before the Lands Minister Daudi Migereko and Internal Affairs Minister Aronda Nyakairima.

The women were protesting a decision by the Ministry of Lands to demarcate the border of the two districts, an act the residents of Apaa feared would be followed by mass evictions.

The ministers later abandoned the demarcation exercise
