{UAH} Lest, ours will not be different
We have to change the way we do things as Africans – lest ours will not be different than what it is today or worse still.
When the Swahili culture developed – nothing in terms of relics of Arab civilization was left behind all along the East African coast not even in Somalia for African to build one hybrid they call their own.
The Swahili culture instead was Africanised and stagnated up to this day with no science, architecture or mathematic innovation not even written text!
When Arabs ruled Europe up to France – they left behind a glorious civilization, hanging cities and architecture precise in geometry,/mathematics and art. Europe destroyed some of these relics but in its place, built upon the glaring European civilization and science for Europe to become a world leader in virtually all sciences or aspects of human life.
Worse still as Ali Mazrui was to discover In Tanzania – the Chinese had for centuries settled in this region by the grave sites and clay ware they left behind. Even this civilization did nothing to hybrid the African way of life that largely has remained the same.
Timbuktu was visited by the most prolific religious and scientific Arab schorals, all what they left behind like libraries and Islam have remained in an undeveloped state as the originator of the ideas left them if not buried in the saharan sands.
I will not go into British, Germanic French, Portuguese (European) colonialism - the libraries, school, railways, research centres , univeristies are in far worse state than when they left - nothing has been added - but have been Africanised in the most repugant ways.
Prof. Ali Mazrui and a former British soldier Basil Davidsson These were the most prolific African historians white washed the Africa history in more colorful ways than others ever lived here on earth. Mazrui contradictory perished in the U.S.A bound into a wheel chair as Prof. Chinua Achebe
we just have to chnage perspective and practical life experiences.
