{UAH} Muhoozi Visits US Navy Base
The UPDF Commander of the Special Forces, Brig. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has praised the close collaboration and support between the Ugandan and U.S security forces in combating terrorism and other negative forces that threaten stability in the region.
Brig. Muhoozi said this last week while giving a keynote speech at the U.S Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School (NAVSCIATTS) during thegraduation ceremony of 55 foreign students from 16 U.S partner states. The headquarters of NAVSCIATTS are located at the John C. Stennis Space Center in the U.S state of Mississippi.

NAVSCIATTS is an international center for security forces assistance in terms of training and other support to U.S partner states to conduct counter-insurgency operations and other forms of asymmetric warfare.
In particular, it prepares the security forces of partner states to conduct small craftoperations (boats) in riverine or littoral environments.
In 2011, President Barrack Obama sent about 100 U.S Special Forces troops to support a 5,000 strong African Union regional task force that is hunting down the leaders and remnants of the LRA in the Central African Republic.
Kony is wanted by the International Criminal Court for 33 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The U.S has also been actively supporting the African Union Mission in Somalia fighting the terrorist group al-shabaab, where Uganda contributes the biggest military contingent.

Gen. Joseph Votel, the Commander of the U.S Special Operations Command, and Rear Admiral Guevara Rodriguez, Commander of Task Force Poseidon, a Colombian unit engaged in counter-narcotics operations, were among the other high profile guests that attended the event.
Rear Admiral Rodriguez is an alumni of the school and received the 2014 distinguished alumni award for excellence and dedication in his home country.
Brig. Muhoozi called for the sustenance and strengthening of U.S – Uganda ties, saying this was crucial in defeating regional armed threats and the global menace of terrorism.
During the one week visit, Brig. Muhoozi was taken on a tour of the NAVSCIATTS training facility and a boat ride in riverine operations by the U.S Special Forces boat team 22.
