{UAH} Thirty-six years ago today - April 11, 1979

Thirty-six years ago today - April 11, 1979 - the military regime of Idi Amin was toppled by a combined force of TPDF (Tanzania People Defence Forces - or JW - Swahili fo Jeshi Wanainchi) and UNLA (Uganda National Liberation Army). Soon after, Col. David Oyite Ojok, in his characteristic baritone, announced the overthrow of Amin, which the latter, broadcasting from Mbale, denied. However, it was not until two months later that the whole country was liberated. April 11 - Liberation Day - became a public holiday till 1986. Part of our history worth remembering, isn't it? Good day.
