The issue here is that Comrade Ochieno gave or tried to shade some lights at the debate, but Chris Obore used what I may call the usual 'Uganda jua kali politics' to articulate his points. The issue here, is I think Uganda is in a state of traumatic situation whereby the 30 plus years of the NRA/M7ism regime had made Ugandans think of what I may even call from hands to mouths at the same time without plan. Ugandans, I think are thinking for living on 'Leja-leja', than on planning for monthly income work hence the reason you could witnessed the man from the EC would not even articulate the goodness of his position at the EC!

The man could not tell us the difference between the 1980 EC and the current one he is a solid employee. In short, the man was fearful to talk his mind or do critical analysis but just to shut down Comrade Ochieno. On the other hand, Mr Onapito was clear that there must be some reform across the whole Ugandan mindsets.

I therefore, think, the 'Leja-Leja' syndrome in Uganda which had been introduced through the NRA/M7ism politics of Individual Merits – aka – for myself without any collective responsibility for the well beings of the whole Ugandans! If such philosophy and mindset is not removed there will never be any conversation for the betterment of our dear country!

All the gentlemen debated considerably well. However, judging by the purpose for the reforms, or what sort of reforms the country needs, Chris Obore's presentation was the best.

The other gentlemen spoke in the kind of language used by politicians who leave nothing unsaid and yet fail to drive the message into the peoples' ability to comprehend.

Chris Obore simply 'hit the nail on the head', by simplifying the whole purpose of their debate. He made it clear that it does not matter who is elected, or appointed in what capacity, or what laws are put in place for the service delivery. Nothing will happen unless the mind set of the Leadership is reformed. "Perform or get fired". With this attitude in the political arena, it would not matter who governs the land.

Actually Brother Ochieno handled himself very well throughout the program. A few things to note, though:

1. I don't know whether most people realize this but both Joseph Ochieno and Hon.Wafula Ogutu have got some kind of resemblance in the face, if we mulindwaly (critically) analyze them;

2. Ochieno's love for UPC has not weathered at all. He is still hurt by whatever happened or may have happened in the 1980 elections.I have caught more than my fair share of flak over my justification of the Luwero Bush war, but its also interesting to see someone out there consistently insisting that the 1980 elections were free and fair;

3. Chris Obore has a way of persuading all panelists to take his side or pick something from his arguments. I dont know whether this makes him a better debater than anybody else, but you have got to give the guy credit. He always leaves this particular show as the 'winner' of the debate.

4. It was kind of shocking to see Chris Obore praising Museveni for managing political ethnicity very well compared to other regional leaders that have tried to push for the third term project. For me, it just shows we are a country that is seriously divided. This division is due, in large part, to a President who has built his legacy on dividing we the people.

5.The EC representative on the show got his panties in a wad every time Ochieno pointed out that the 'EC is a personal property of President Museveni and needs reforming'. Why get so defensive if you think you aren't in that position to serve the incumbent. This just reenforces Besigye's message that without reforms, there is no need for elections to take place.

6.I liked Brother Ochieno's way forward on EC reforms too........This nation has to be mobilized and rallied for a tremendous effort, and who can do that except the government of the day. Museveni has to find it in his heart to accept the EC reforms proposed by both the opposition, and he may possibly take credit for it when being analyzed in future by historians!
