SV: {UAH} UPC issues poll guides - Ochieno not standing?
GOOD IDEA. ACTUALLY IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE DISTRICTS PROPOSING NAMES FROM THE BEGINNING.
eSPECIALLY IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON BASIS OF POSITIVE PARTY WORK (INVOLVMENT / COOPERATIONS RIGHT NOW) AND NOT THOSE CONFLICT CHARGED
PERSONALITIES.
pEOPLE WHO ARE ALREADY COOPORATING POSITIVELY AND WORKING HARD TO UNITE THE PARTY RIGHT NOW WOULD BE MY PREFERENCE OVER THOSE WHO
HAVE HOARDED IDEALS TO BE RELEASED FIRST, WHEN THEY THEMSELVES ARE
ELECTED.
iN THAT REGARD, if I were a UPC, i WOULD EVEN CAST MY VOTE FOR THE CAM KWOKI GUY INSTEAD OF THE CONFLICT CHARGES.

UPC issues poll guides - National
Kampala- The Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) has said aspirants for party presidency should have a third of districts for their names to be forwarded to the delegates' conference.
Addressing journalists at the party weekly press conference in Kampala yesterday, the UPC spokesperson, Mr Okello Lucima, said aspirants should win 20 per cent of the districts that will participate in the district conferences.
"According to the party constitution, all the aspirants should first visit all the districts and then the district officials forward their names after nominations," Mr Lucima said.
Mr Lucima also said candidates should win in their home regions and three others to qualify for the delegates conference.
"In a district where there is more than one constituency, district parliamentary constituency will convene and nominate the candidate while in a district with one constituency, executives of sub-counties will nominate the candidate," he said.
Mr Adoroa Bazu, the party's electoral commission chairperson, said the process was a great opportunity for UPC to be revived and have nationalistic party leaders.

"The materials will be reaching the districts tomorrow (today) and polling stations will be at the district venues and nominations set for May 30," Mr Bazu said.
This came hardly after one of the aspirants, Mr Joseph Ochieno, dropped out of the presidential race, leaving it to nine candidates.
Mr Bazu said since Mr Ochieno picked the application forms, he never returned and the deadline of submission passed on May 20.
