{UAH} Burundi - Masks of Protest

Protesters against Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza's decision to run for a third term wear homemade masks to hide their identity as street demonstrations continue after a failed coup. Materials used range from grass and leaves to bin liners and old fabric, while woolly hats make impromptu balaclavas, in one case with an Ireland badge complete with a shamrock.

The protesters in the capital Bujumbura say Nkurunziza's desire to stay in office violates the east African state's constitution and a peace accord that ended an ethnically charged civil war in 2005. As many as 300,000 people died in the conflict.
