{UAH} DO NOT LOOK BACKWARD FOR A JOURNEY IS ALWAYS AHEAD!
When God wanted to destroy Sodom and Gommorah, the Angel instructed Lot and his family not to look backward but as they fled, Lot's wife disobeyed the Angel's instruction and looked backward. God decided to kill her instantly. This lesson is very vital when making a journey away from troubles.
Recently i rebuked Ocen, Semakula and sujui Simon or is it Gook, the whole lot; that they should stop looking backwards. By disputing about what did and did not happen and who was responsible for the 1966 crisis, an event that took place before they were born and non of them had any hand in it is preposterously arrogant and time wasting. Because it informs their thinking in an age so different from that of the actors then, and what could have triggered and transpired. Hanging on to every thread from the old narrative has meant that no Muganda would trust any northerner just like no northerner would trust any Muganda with his butt. This distrust continues to prevail as long as members carry on wisecracking to know, to the letter, causation and effect. These breed of hangers on, from the event of days gone by, are the very lumpen holding back progress.
Mulindwa, with gory details still wants to cling on to Amin like it matters. It does not matter! Not even to a progressive Kakwa or Hussein Amin for that matter. For these are different times and different stages of our journey. The mere fact that Akim Odong Senior was a farmer and not very successful one for Amin's soldiers raided all his cattle does not and should stop Akim Odong junior from becoming a successful farmer for these are different stages of the journey.
This is the very reason why, we as present day actors, should aspire to shape the future and not the past. They who cling on to the past, glory or otherwise, are they who have failed or lack the know-how, in shaping the future. Because one cannot shape both. In the words of my old uncle, it's only goats that shit and eat at the same time! With this in mind, i can now reveal that the future i want for Uganda is not one that depends on an individual, but collective aspiration. Not one where the national bread is buttered by all, and all of it gets eaten, but by one. Never a future of dominance over another but a collective force against dominance. This future will not depend on any constitution from the past but the present to meet the aspiration of the future. One that does not look backwards, for the future is always ahead!
