Border officials at the Spanish territory of Ceuta a Spanish city enclave in North Africa, were left dumbfounded last week after the border x-ray scanner revealed what looked like a human figure stuffed in a suitcase.

According to the police statement the guards at the border smelled a rat when they spotted the 19 year-old Moroccan woman who had carried the suitcase through a pedestrian crossing from Morocco into the small Spanish-governed territory of Ceuta, looking nervous and restless as she waited in the queue at the land border crossing. Her behaviour reportedly raised suspicion, prompting agents to scan her bags which led them to an alarming image of a human figure curled up in her suitcase.

When they opened the suitcase they discovered a young boy in a ghastly state huddled in the middle of packed clothing.

The police later discovered that the smuggled minor was only eight years and the accused was in cahoots with her husband, an Ivorian national who also happens to be the boy's father.

The minor's father is being charged for human rights abuse.
