Some friends were together and got to wondering how many other people from their homeland of Padhola, Uganda also lived in USA. They called another friend who knew a lot of Ugandans in the USA. Before long, they had arranged a meeting inviting all the people they could get in touch with, and so the seeds for Jopadhola Wiloka International, Inc. (JWII), a now non-profit organization, were sown.

Each of these people realized that times had changed, and that what they took for granted growing up was no longer available to the younger people growing up in our homeland. For example:
  • A decent education
  • An abundance of trees for shade, firewood, building and other various uses
  • Plentiful food and clean water
  • Good medical care
  • Role models and mentors
The children especially are vulnerable. Without a decent education, there is no future for most of these children. JWII realized that with US $5.00, we could provide two textbooks that are badly needed. We realized that as we have been blessed, we have an obligation to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate coming behind us.
