UAH is secular, intellectual and non-aligned politically, culturally or religiously email discussion group.

{UAH} Let us welcome Major General (Retired) Jim Muhwezi Katugugu to the UAH forum.

Let us welcome Major General (Retired) Jim Muhwezi Katugugu to the UAH forum. He is the current Minister of Information and National Guidance in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position in a cabinet reshuffle on 1 March 2015.He is now partly the 'boss of Facebook' in Uganda and can close UAH anytime he feels offended. Also, he is the elected Member of Parliament (MP) representing "Rujumbura County" in Rukungiri District. Mr.Muhwezi received Senior Military Police and Security Intelligence Training from Tanzania and the former Soviet Union.

Jim is a political survivor:
1-he was censured by the Parliament in 1998 for abuse of office. He however kept his Cabinet post and his parliamentary seat.
2-In June 2006, a Commission of Inquiry, headed by Hon James Munage Ogoola, found in its report that Jim Muhwezi and his two Ministers of State, were responsible for misuse of public funds. The Commission recommended prosecution, restitution and possible imprisonment if found guilty, but he is still standing and as free as a bird. Well, the case was dropped on 31 July 2012, and Muhwezi was acquitted.

3.In 1981, while serving as the officer-in-charge at Mbale Police Station, Muhwezi was arrested for his links with the then NRA rebels, but he escaped like a Denzel Washington on a mission. The story goes that together with David Sejusa, Muhwezi grabbed guns from their guards and shot them before escaping.

We want him to see the job UAH is doing by linking Ugandans in Diaspora to those at home, such that he finds no reason not to love us forever. As a survivor, he sure knows that there are many ways of keeping a forum such as UAH going for a long time.
