Nyong'o hits back at Ruto over graft row - News
Kisumu Senator Anyang' Nyong'o on Thursday hit back at Deputy President William Ruto, terming him a man who had a penchant for blaming his problems on Cord leader Raila Odinga.
In a statement, Prof Nyong'o also accused Mr Ruto of refusing to apologise for the many scandals he has been linked to.
Prof Nyong'o who was responding to Mr Ruto's statement warning Mr Odinga to stop dragging his name into corruption scandals asked the Deputy President and his United Republican Party (URP) to carry their own cross.
Mr Ruto had asked Mr Odinga to stop dragging his name into corruption scandals, warning that he was ready to take a political war to his doorstep.
He accused Mr Odinga and his former personal assistant, Mr Herbert Ojwang, of linking him to the scandal surrounding a Sh17 billion project to upgrade the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
But in a hard hitting statement, Prof Nyong'o said that Mr Ruto had developed a knack for refusing to apologise for the numerous scandals he has been linked to and instead blaming Mr Odinga for his problems.
"Deputy President William Ruto has no apologies to make on many issues. He has no apology to make on having been involved in a questionable grabbing of his neighbour's land. He has no apology to make over the tear-gassing of school children in Lang'ata on a land grab issue in which his name was mentioned. I am therefore not surprised that he has no apology to make over the scam at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret," Prof Nyong'o stated.
"To look for scapegoats, especially in ODM, is also typical of the DP. It is a love-hate relationship in which he always looks for (former) Prime Minister Raila Odinga for protection; failing which he will always outsource his problems to the former PM. This is both farcical and tragic," he went on.
He told URP leaders who had claimed that the project was initiated when he was the Medical Services minister to stop dragging his name into their woes.
"As for the URP leaders who are dragging my name into their Jubilee mess, let them be warned: I can sting like a bee. The isolation they currently face in Jubilee is not manufactured by the ODM: they need to remember that choices have consequences," he stated.
Senate Majority Leader Kindiki Kithure had on Monday led seven Jubilee lawmakers in accusing Prof Nyong'o, accusing him of starting the hospital upgrade project.
