Ethiopian Jews in Israel have been protesting against racial discrimination in the country, which is something that has been experienced by the Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv.

Mehereta Baruch-Ron is the deputy mayor of Tel Aviv and she travelled from Ethiopia to Israel when she was nine years old.  Telling the story of her journey, she said, "We were a small Jewish community. The Ethiopians used to treated us outsiders. Our dream was to get to Jerusalem."

But when she arrived she found she was treated as an outsider again.
