Uganda to increase visa fees to usd 100, really? We have to fight this somehow. Immigration department has changed few policies absent background research and without involving all stake holders, its now almost impossible for a filming crew to get a visa to Uganda without first getting a filming permit.
USA makes over 150 billion dollars from tourism every year and this has nothing to do with governments but has everything to do with the direct tourist who we need to spend his money here to create opportunities. You only increase costs of the visa on two grounds, one: that quality has improved or 2; that demand is very higher non of which is true here.Our demand as a destination is clearly very low due to poor marketing. The cost is born by the final consumer not government. Anything increased in Uganda directly affects the cost a tourist pay, fuel, VAT, visa etc
Cuba airline for example discounts their ticket fees by usd 200 dollars and make sure same amount is spent within Cuba that is how it works
