{UAH} Was the mchakamuchaka worth it?

Was the mchakamuchaka worth it? It revolutionised some people - in fact many people. For some (many) it was the first time they had been made to analyse Uganda's problems. It not only painted a good picture of things to come, but made many young people hope in the future.

Me, it enabled me to see the world through other people's eyes. Running 10 miles revived my cross-country experience. But you can see that it was not like today when mchakamchaka can raise neither love/interest nor hate or suspicion.

My verdict: an improved version of chakamchaka, designed to inculcate the spirit of confident, courageous, self-reliant and participatory citizenship, could help create a more just and democratic society. But the NRM version is tilted heavily in favor of creating NRM faithfuls than citizens who have the courage and ability to question authority.
