{UAH} WBK, Ocen// Former Kenya's CID director, Noah arap Too dies

In a way, I owe my life to Noah arap Too.

Unbeknownst to me one afternoon in 1987, there was an order for my arrest. As I was coming out of the High Court, after covering an explosive political fraud case, Noah arap Too pulled me aside for a chat, as his boys wandered in the hallway. 

A colleague from a rival media house came out of the court room and continued his exit, followed a short distance by arap Too's CID agents.

Our conversation was mundane, about an fundraising event he was planning for that weekend, and whether I could do him a favor and cover it. He walked me to a side exit, bid me goodbye and we parted ways. That was on a Tuesday.

On Thursday morning, we received the shocking news that the colleague who had been followed by the CID guys was found dead in Nakuru, his body mutilated into pieces.

I've said this here before: I don't know up to now, whether  arap Too knew that I was also marked for death, or he merely wanted me to cover that fundraiser. 

Anyway, arap Too was a hardhearted operative who managed to mask his brutality with a personable demeanor.
