{UAH} Ocen, Gook//Police warn opposition against tainting Museveni's image
Folks;
Hard as the Opposition might try, and serious as the police might fear, the Opposition can not possible taint Museveni's image any further.
Museveni has done a great job at tainting his image. And Ugandans should be grateful for that accomplishment.
However, I'm siding with the police here because of the context of their warning:
The pilgrims who have been flocking to Namugongo for days now are there for the most sacred of all personal beliefs. As evidenced by the press coverage thus far, we have Christians from all walks of life, and from every corner of East and Central Africa.
Having trekked for days and months, in search of spiritual connections, the pilgrims do not need to be bombarded with Uganda's politics of attrition. They deserve to pray, observe, fast and pray some more, in peace, and without any political noise, be it pro or anti-Museveni.
Having sacrificed their personal comfort in exchange for spiritual renewal, these Christians deserve no less. And, as hosts, we owe them that much.
