Folks;

In brief, the Kenyan Parliament rejected Dr. Juma nomination for Secretary to the Cabinet on three main grounds;

1.Slash Account - There was a secret account in the Internal Affairs from where pro-government MPs, drew money to fund public demos, to rallies, and fly around the country to promote Jubilee. And this money was to be availed on demand. Dr. Juma shut the kit closed, and demanded paper works and other procedural formalities.

2. Cronyism - Similar to the above, government MPs were used to demanding favoritism for relatives from this office in job placement, transfer, and in some cases, dismissal of "bad elements." Again, she told them to knock off, and follow laid down procedure.

3. Perceived Allegiance - Her husband, Prof. Kagwanja was close to the late Internal Affairs minister, George Saitoti, whose own political aspiration would have pitted him against Uhuru. So, the paranoid MPs feared Kagwanja could use his wife's proximity to Uhuru to sabotage the Jubilee Coalition from within!

Folks, President Uhuru should rein in his ruling Coalition and stamp his authority. In this incident, it is that the president is pushing for an unqualified nominee; rather, the candidate's qualification is being applauded by everyone, including the same MPs who are rejecting her.
