"Witnesses state that a left rear tire blew out, vehicle lost control, went off the right side of the road, rolled two and a half times and came to rest on its top," said Commander Frank Acosta of the Brighton Police Department.

The father was killed immediately, while the mother and one of the children had to be airlifted to a hospital. The remaining children were taken to the hospital via ambulance.

Police said that none of the passengers were wearing seatbelts, except for the youngest child who was strapped in a car seat. Sam Cole of Colorado's Department of Transportation stated that about 18 percent of Colorado residents do not wear seatbelts.

"Research shows us that if everyone in Colorado buckled up, we would be able to save 60 lives," he said.

Perhaps the father's life could've been one of those, and this little girl and her siblings could've been spared the grief of losing a parent.
