UNAA Fiscal Year Change Announcement
 
NEW ORLEANS, June 5, 2015 - The Ugandan North American Association ("UNAA"), Board of Trustees exercising its constitutional powers in Article 11.1 of the UNAA Constitution announced the approval of a fiscal year-end change from December 31st to September 30th effective immediately.  With this change, UNAA's fiscal year will begin on October 1st and will end on September 30th each year.
 
The change in fiscal year is being made by the organization:
  • In compliance with a recommended by the IRS that the fiscal year aligns with UNAA's leadership changes helping with fiscal management responsibility as each administration will be better held accountable for its decisions.
  • To better align with UNAA's seasonality of revenues/expenses and convention activities for fiscal year closing purposes.
  • As the change year will align UNAA's fiscal year with the federal government fiscal year.
  • To better align the organization's financial reporting calendar with its industry peers.

About the Community Outreach Initiative (COI)
Launched in 2013, the Community Outreach Initiative (COI) was a program launched by the incoming UNAA leadership to transform UNAA into a grassroots organization and move beyond being a mere one weekend a year convention organization. Since its launch, the current UNAA Administration has visited more Ugandan Cultural Organizations and Community Association events than any other administration in UNAA History creating relationships and improving the UNAA Brand.
 
About UNAA New Orleans 2015
The 27th Annual UNAA Convention and Trade Expo will take place over three days; September 4 - 6 2015 at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans showcasing program and forums including Trade & Investment, Technology, Health, Education, Political as well as a forum on Intergenerational relationships between immigrants and their children born in the Diaspora.
 
The Saturday Dinner Cruise is a popular culinary event complete with a dance to both live performances by popular artists and DJ music - aboard a magnificent marine vessel sailing into the spectacular Mississippi River sunset. Proceeds from the Fashion Show Auction during the Sunday Gala Dinner will go towards the Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program.

Over 50 exhibiting companies and vendors featuring the latest world class Ugandan culture, produce, music, books, literature, arts crafts, Jewelry, clothing, foods, etc. will gather under the theme "Better Together: Investing in our future through education".
