{UAH} Does MBABAZI know know all this?

"I'm not ready to hand over power to people or groups of people who have no ability to manage a nation....Why should I sentence Ugandans to suicide by handing over power to people we fought and defeated? It's dangerous despite the fact that the constitution allows them to run against me.... At times the constitution may not be the best tool to direct us politically for it allows wrong and doubtful people to contest for power."

President Yoweri Museveni, addressing a rally in western Uganda.

East African, February 12, 2001

By the way you can slap Museveni, you can even break his bone, he will not be enraged.  But if in any way you threaten his power, his hold on power, even if it was Muhoozi [his son] who did that, he would suffer exactly the same thing many of us have suffered.  The problem here is that Museveni set out to acquire power, increase it and hold on to it until he dies.   Dr. Besigye in Sunday Monitor, December 24, 2006.

It's me who hunted and after killing the animal, they want

me to go. Where should I go?

President Yoweri Museveni, 2008

The public needs to know that dictators don't simply give up power when you look at all their actions, they are trapped.

It would be too optimistic to think that they are going to organize a level political playing filed, the signal that we see is that they are determined to hand on to power at any cost.

Mugish Muntu on 2011 elections; Sunday Monitor, June 14, 2009, P. 9
