{UAH} Ocen, Gook//UN chief calls for inquiry into Hammarskjold plane crash
Folks;
It's fitting to paraphrase a CBS 60 Minutes promo of about 20 years ago.
Was it an accident or sabotage? That's what the UN secretary-general wants to know. So do we. As I noted in a thread about the Marshall Plan last week, Hammarskjold was Sweden's point man in the Marshall Plan that helped to rehabilitate Europe after World War 2.
His death, in an air crash in Zambia, was suspect from the beginning: the lone survivor talked of an explosion aboard; Hammarskjold's destination was Congo, home to Patrice Lumumba. South Africa itself was active in the air within southern Africa.
So, who wanted to kill the popular UN secretary-general?
