CCM picks Magufuli as the party's Union presidential candidate

The National Executive Committee (NEC) picked the three from a short list of five candidates. Those dropped by the NEC were Mr Bernard Membe and Mr January Makamba.
Dodoma. CCM's congress has picked Dr John Pombe Magufuli as the party's Union presidential candidate.
Dr Magufuli emerged tops in a vote which also involved Dr Asha-Rose Migiro and Ms Amina Salum Ali.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) picked the three from a short list of five candidates. Those dropped by the NEC were Mr Bernard Membe and Mr January Makamba.
CCM are hoping that Dr Magufuli will win the October 25 presidential election and succeed President Jakaya Kikwete, who will retire later this year after ten years at the helm.
Forty-two aspirants picked up CCM nomination forms, but four failed to beat the deadline for returning the documents.
