{UAH} Police in action
Dear All,
If there is evidence that the electorate is being bribed, I think the police are right to intervene; but there must be impartiality and thorough investigation done before committing to any acts. However, how can the police differentiate between fulfilling promises made by the MPs and/or the president and the alleged vote buying in advance? The incumbent MPs just like President Museveni made several promises during the last elections and as they suspect correctly that the electorate will task them on unfulfilled promises should they seek reelection in 2016, they have embarked on meeting unfulfilled promises, so how can the police handle such situations especially when other people like president Museveni are busy fulfilling their promises; worse still do make more even before official campaigns start? Such acts of police selective justice support the premise that the force is partisan favouring NRM leaning projects.
"Sironko. Police in Sironko District have blocked Budadiri East MP Nandala Mafabi from distributing hoes to his electorate, arguing that the time for campaigns has not come.
Mr Mafabi recently launched the Shs400 hoe-distribution programme to benefit 33,038 households in the constituency.
However, the district police commander, Mr Mike Ademu, last Friday stopped Mr Nandala's team from distributing the garden tools.

"We have arrested three in connection with illegal distribution of campaign materials donated by your candidate. This is not the right time for campaigns and I am ordering you to stop it until further notice," Mr Ademu told Mr Nandala's team at his office in Sironko Town Council.
However, Mr James Wanyaka, the coordinator of the programme, told the DPC that the distribution of the hoes was a fulfillment of Mr Nandala's pledge made in his 2011 campaign manifesto and not part of the 2016 campaigns."
