{UAH} Pope's great Tuesday in Ecuador
It was indeed a great day yesterday Tuesday ( 07/07/2015 ) in Ecuador.
The very popularly loved Pope had again another score to his great credit.
All programmes succeeded and all people were with him. Crowds lined the
streets wherever and whenever the pope's motorcade passed. More millions
of people were at hand for him and they showed him how he was deeply planted
in their humble hearts. The first item on the day's agenda was the meeting with all
bishops of Ecuador. This was private, but it appears the Pope had much to tell his bishops.
Next on agenda was the very great historic Mass at the vast Bicentenary Parc where three
million people were present. the crowds extended beyond the place and reached points some
two kilometres away ( just as the Namugongo crowds do, but these weren't squeezed up in compact!)
People slept on the spot in spite of an evening shower! In his homily the Pope insisted on evangelization
as being something that brings happiness and harmony in society. He advised against personality cults
and appealed for a spirit of dialogue and communication. He asked the faithful to fight against any kind
of exclusion in society. And finally he encouraged the crowds to promote Christian unity and avoid proselytism.
He further advised them to come out and seek and bring back to the Church their colleagues who had left their
Church.
Late in the afternoon he met academicians, scholars, and teachers and university students the Pontifical University
of Ecuador where 5000 people were present. He appealed to them to question themselves on a number of things
including the future of the planet, the nature of education, the role the educated must play in society, etc. With more or less similar tones, the Pontiff was supposed to meet the representatives of the civil society in St Francis Church in Quito.
Today Wednesday (08/07/2015 ) the Pope will be flying to Paraguay where other millions of people will be eagerly
waiting for him. Ecuador has been a real triumph for the Latin American Pontiff.
