FORMER Vice President, Gilbert Bukenya has skipped court for the case in which he is accused of snatching another man's wife.
Bukenya who was supposed to appear at High Court Family Division in Kampala, together with the woman in question Margret Kabasinguza, shunned court without a substantial reason.
He and Kabasinguza skipped mediation six times claiming to be shy to appear before the former husband, Emmanuel Nyabayongo.
"Bukenya has skipped mediation six times and has never appeared in court. He has never submitted a substantial reason for absconding court," Ambrose Rukundo, lawyer to the complainant explained.
Ivan Kyateeka, a legal assistant to Mac Dosman Kabega, who represents Prof. Bukenya and Kizza Rwakafuzi who represents Kabasinguza declined to explain to court why their clients were not in court, but instead asked the judge to proceed with the hearing.
In response, Justice Atuhaise denied their request and ordered mediation registrar, Magan Callauay to file a mediation report so that hearing can resume.
The mediation flopped after Bukenya and Kabasinguza failed to turn up at Court for mediation.
"Bukenya and Kabasinguza were spotted at Katoomi Kingdom Hotel having fun yet they were supposed to be in court for mediation," Nyabayango told court.
Justice Atuhaise told Kyateeka and Rwakafuuzi to come with their clients since it will be the last hearing of the case.
Nyabayango through his lawyer filed the case against Bukenya in July 2012 accusing him of seducing his wife.
He also claims that Bukenya has a child with his wife, saying it was "unconstitutional and barbaric. The case has been adjourned to December 15th.
