The UNAA BOT would like to clarify to the UNAA membership who is eligible to vote in the upcoming UNAA general elections, due on Sunday the 6th of September 2015.
Members in good standing are eligible to vote. Those are individuals who fulfill article 3.1 below and have paid their dues between Jan 1 2014 and August 6th 2015.
3.1 (a): Full Membership: Full membership shall be limited to a natural person 18 years or older who shall be a Ugandan by birth or descent (or a spouse of such person), who resides in North America or a citizen/permanent resident of a North American country regardless of where he or she lives and pays an annual membership fee. Full membership rights and benefits include the right to hold office and to vote, upon satisfying the requirements stipulated in articles 3.3 and 3.5 of these Bylaws. Please note article 3.3.1
3.3.1: Membership dues paid in a current fiscal year shall be valid for membership for the following fiscal year.
Therefore members who paid their dues in 2014 are eligible. To be eligible to vote, the membership fee must be paid 30 days before voting day, thus the deadline was 6th August 2015.
Also note that the UNAA fiscal year changed in May this year, moving forward, to end on 30 September and begin on 1st October of each year.
