{UAH} FATE OF NEW MUNICIPALITIES TOMORROW

Brothers and sisters, it has been hot in parliament when MPs were
debating a proposal by Local Government Minister to create 12
municipalities including Makindye Ssaab agabo, Kira, Nsnana, Mityana,
Mubenje, Lugazi, Njeru among others.
Others included Kisoro, Ibanda, Kitgum, Kumi and Koboko.
While Bunyoro MPs wanted to block it until 25 new distrocts proposed
in 2012, are created (these include among others, Kagadi, Kyaddondo,
Kassanda and Kyotera) and the speaker assured them that parliament
would debate it tomorrow.
Then came the opposition and the regions missing on the list like Apac
in Lango, Kotido in Karamoja and Kamuli in Busoga.
The Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah adjourned the matter to tomorrow
afternoon at 2.00 pm.
While Bunyoro MPs came organised, so are the opposition MPs led by
Shadow Minister for Local Government Hon. Betty Nambooze, Buganda MPs,
who are the beneficiaries of the majority of the proposed
municipalities in particular, those representing affected areas like
Wakiso District, other than Distroct WOman MP Rose Ssenninde, and
Buikwe West MP Onyango Kakoba, were caught off guard or were
disinterested.
It's my prayer, that there will be improvement tomorrow, insha Allah,
before the house goes to recess next week.
